A pleasant call…

I received a pleasant call from a lifelong Kelly Laker, Pat Frank.  Coincidentally Pat is my age (61) and shares a love for Kelly Lake as long as I have–a lifetime; he now resides in Winneconne, WI.  During our cordial conversation, we spent quite a while reminiscing about the years, places and unforgettable –sometimes bringing back memories–times at Kelly Lake.

Pat is doing research/genealogy for a family reunion planned this summer right here at Kelly Lake.  Though Pat doesn’t have a cottage here, he’s bringing in family from California and other points of the US to gather at a cottage he rented on the Lake for the occasion.

It was such a pleasure talking with Pat.  He plans a trip in the near future to meet Shirley and I here at Birr’s Eye View, and discuss the project he’s working on; how to organize and coordinate it for posting on the web site.  You’ll find that I also included these postings in “Articles”.

My personal thanks to Pat for sharing his research.  I think you’ll find it an entertaining and interesting addition to kellylake.net.  Roger

This from Pat:

“Roger,

Joanne Ellis Alley wrote this article for the Oconto County Times-Herald in 1998. I scanned the newspaper and converted it to a Word document. I added the pictures at the end, scanned from a postcards from EBAY.

I note that she is the daughter of Jack Ellis Sr., so she is the brother of Jack Ellis Jr, whom my mother graduated with from OF High School in 1937. If Joanne is still alive I would be very interested in meeting her – she would have first hand knowledge of information I am seeking.

I currently plan to be up to the lake next week and look forward to meeting you. I will call first. I have other Kelly Lake “things” I have collected and will be glad to share.

My genealogy interest and general historical interest in Kelly Lake is based on a 1978 “memoir” my grandmother wrote of her early life at Kelly Lake. It is posted on my website at http://webpages.charter.net/frankpt/grandmas.htm.

Patrick T. Frank”
