Hoover Dam

hydro-07-635.JPGAs I mentioned, Shirley and I were invited out west by an old(!) high school buddy, Tim Ulrich,  to tour Hoover Dam, Zion National Park, Virgin River Gorge and many scenic miles that Tim guided us on personally for a week; taking off work as Area Manager for Hoover Dam.  It was our first trip west, thanks to Tim’s invite!  Memories almost long-lost came to mind as we reminisced back some 40 years ago (cracked Shirley up!).  Tim came back for our 40th class reunion in Two Rivers this summer after leaving TR in ’75; that’s how the trip all came to be.  Tim is retiring at the end of the year and said we should come out while he still has the keys to the “Dam”!  I told Tim about the KL web site, and he is logging on.  It was a grand and enjoyable stay with Tim, and a dam(n) good tour–or good dam tour!  I know Tim will be checking the site from out there!  Here’s a pic of us with Tim at Hoover Dam, along with another high school buddy, Terry and his wife Lana Ernst.  Coincidentally, we all hooked-up with Tim at the same time.  Thanks, Tim!   Rog and Shirley

I’m here, Steve!

Vegas Rat PackShirley and I were on vacation to Vegas and sights out west, including Utah, Nevada and Arizona!  Awesome!  My high school  buddy is Area Manager of Hoover Dam and gave us special tour to the bowels of the Dam (security is tight, as one could imagine).  Yes, I’m frustrated with the cam; can’t seem to get it online; I know it’s missed.  Want to get the POTD (Picture Of The Day) back on; Shirley has some neat photos.  By the way, I won $4875 in Vegas.  CORRECTION!  I misplaced the decimal  point; it was $48.75!  Glad to see people are happy kellylake.net is up-and-running again!  Funding is coming in and much appreciated.  As always, our work and time is donated.  Rog and Shirley

Fall Colors

Goldwing Bike TripI have not yet stopped by KL on my annual color tour, but I did take a ride up to Bayfield, WI the last 2 days and can tell you that they are very near or past peak in those areas. The Eagle River area is just about at peak, but as you travel further south, the colors are not quite there yet. I need to drive up to Rogers ASAP to get that camera back online so everyone can see for themselves. Today is October fest in Appleton, and tomorrow the Packers play, so the next trip up would be possibly Monday if the weather cooperates.
Guess Rog has not yet figured out how to post, otherwise you would have a nice report and photos from the Birr’s Eye View.

IMHO, this week would bea good week to see the emerging color, next week should be at peak unless wind and rain in the forecast blows everying down.

Welcome to Kelly Lake Wisconsin

Please be patient while the site is configured.
Looks like we’ll stick with WordPress as the foundation of the site.
This will allow for multiple authors. If you are interested in adding content, all you need to do is register.
It totally FREE and it is required to keep out spammers. I am working on setting permission levels for contributors, authors and editor levels.

You may also notice this text is a bit odd, I am testing a text filter that converts all posts into “pirate talk”.
Other filter options include Elmer Fudd, Jive Talk, Kraut and Swedish Chef. This shoud be fun, see if you can tell the setting for certain posts.

Lost Ring

Recently we received an email from a gentelman named Travis, who seems to have lost a platinum and gold wedding band at Kelly Lake. He was wondering if anyone found it and claims there is an engraving that he can verify.
His email is smuvt@new.rr.com

Please send a post with any info.
