The Great Lakes

superior.jpgsuperior3.jpgsuperior4.jpgsuperior5.jpgsuperior2.jpgThese pics and text sent from Don Baryenbruch.  I had to share them with you because many don’t know the ravage the Great Lakes can incur.  We sailed over the Fitzgerald in ’96; it went down in November of ’75 off of Whitefish Point on Lake Superior, taking 29 crew members to their icy graves–never to be recovered.  The Edmund was 726′ long:

“Lake Superior (Gitche Gumee) in November…
Ever wonder why the Edmund Fitzgerald didn’t make it..?  A little taste of the seafaring life on the Inland Seas … These photographs were taken in November 2006  aboard Misener Steamships MV Selkirk Settler as she crossed Lake Superior in typical November weather.   The first pic is in calm water.”
