The other morning Shirley caught the sun rising over winter ice on Kelly Lake.

walk-moon-019a.JPGOn one of Shirley’s walk-abouts, she took this photo recently of Kelly Lake’s ice roadway used by the ice fishermen/women!  Roger

Spring’s around the corner!

oppossium-035a.JPGNo, not the pretty picture of birds returning, but this ‘possum (now out and about) under our bird feeders was a sign of upcoming spring!  If you ever got a whiff of one, their odor is worse than their rat-like look!  Rog  (Photo by Shirley Birr)

POTD: Cat tails forefront neighboring Long Lake.

long-lake.JPGAdjacent to Kelly Lake is Long Lake.  Shirley took this photo of cat tails steadfast to winter ’08′s cold and snow.

Long Lake is smaller than Kelly and experiences less ice movement in spring.  Thus, many leave their docks in, as shown here.  Roger

POTD: February ’08 moonrise and eclipse!

walk-moon-006b.JPGwalk-moon-007a.JPGPhotos taken by Shirley Birr as we watched the eclipse over Kelly Lake.  FYI, apogee and perigee are references to the eliptical orbit of the moon around the earth; farness (apogee) and nearness (perigee).  For more info about the moon, check http://www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/moon_ap_per.html .  Roger
