Missoula Children’s Theatre presents FREE workshops to area students

The Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts are proud to sponsor three free workshops in conjunction with the Artist in Residency of Missoula Children’s Theatre.  All workshops will be held in the Falls Area Performing Arts Center, located in Oconto Falls High School.

·         Tuesday, August 5 from 1:45-2:30 p.m.  The Actor’s Tools (for students in grades 3-5)

The basic tools of the actors’ trade-observation, memorization, concentration, and imagination-are presented and explored in an entertaining manner.  The students participate in a variety of fun exercises, learning to apply the actor’s tools to performing and to everyday life.

·         Wednesday, August 6 from 1:45-2:30 p.m.  Let’s Make-up (for students in grades 1-2)

Without the support of visual image, the most talented of actors can portray only a narrow spectrum of characters.  Make-up is the foundation and the most basic visual image for all performers.  This participatory workshop teaches students of all ages by demonstrating corrective, old age, and fantasy make-up.

·         Thursday, August 7 from 1:45-2:30 p.m.  Improvisation (for students in grades 3-12)

Participation is emphasized  as the students learn to act without a script.  This workshop can be geared to all levels, from beginners to more experienced young actors.

For registration, please call Erika at (920) 848-4471.  This workshop is sponsored by the Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts and sponsored in part by CenturyTel.

Press release:  Missoula Children’s Theatre presents HANSEL and GRETEL on August

The Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts are proud to begin their 2008-2009 season with the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of HANSEL AND GRETEL, featuring 60 area children!  Auditions for this production, which are open to area children entering grades 1 through 12, will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 4 at Oconto Falls High School.

Join Missoula Children’s Theatre, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre company as the time-honored tale of Hansel and Gretel takes a modern day spin! Hank and Gretchen, two modern youngsters, drift off to sleep, waking to find themselves in strange clothes, lost in the deep dark woods. As evening approaches and the moon rises, the wayward children realize they are not alone. Nasty Nasties dart from tree to tree and sweet Wallybirds munch on cookie crumbs they’ve left on the forest floor. Finally, they meet the Wildwood Witch. Is she bad or good? Wicked or misunderstood?  Tickets for this production will be available at the door or by mail.  You may download an order form at www.fota.ocontofalls.k12.wi.us.  This event is sponsored by the Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts and sponsored in part by CenturyTel.  For more information, please call (920) 848-7469.
