Doug Dorow, 83, Kelly Lake, died peacefully in his sleep Monday morning, December 1, 2008 at his home. He was born May 19, 1925 on the family farm in the Town of Spruce to Arthur and Clara (Paul) Dorow. He grew up in Spruce where he attended Kelly Brook Elementary School, later graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1943.On January 21, 1950 he married Gloria Henrichs at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena. The couple lived in Kelly Brook where together they owned and operated the family dairy farm until retiring to Kelly Lake in 1980. Doug also drove milk truck for Frigo Cheese and later drove school bus for the northern part of the Oconto Falls School District. Doug started his political career in 1970 by serving on the Spruce Town Board where he served as supervisor and chairman for many years. He was a charter member of the Oconto Falls Ambulance Service for over 30 years and continued his support of their efforts. As a member of the Oconto County Board for 34 years, Doug has been serving as County Board Vice Chairman since 1996. The current committee boards he was dedicated to include the Board of Adjustments, Land Conservation, Personnel & Wage and Public Property. Over the years, Doug was very active in the Kelly Brook area by volunteering on the school board, 4-H Club, dairy leadership programs and his church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was currently a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Survivors are his children, Claire (Lloyd) Fabry, Oconto Falls; Kathy (Mike) Sparkman, Panama City Beach, FL; Carla (Henry) Pastorelli, Los Altos, CA; Art (Mary) Dorow, Lena; Don (Lisa) Dorow, Denver, CO; Sheila Dorow, Kelly Lake; Kelly (Brad) Berkovitz, Stiles; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; one brother, David (Peg) Dorow, Oshkosh; a very special friend, Lucille Blahnik, Spruce; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Milton Henrichs, Phoenix, AZ; Jack Kowalczyk, Spruce; Carol (Delbert) Krause, Marinette; Jack Henrichs, South Bend, IN; Jerry (Judy) Henrichs, Lena. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria on June 11, 2003, his son David on February 18, 1997, one brother Don Dorow, one sister Dorothy Niemuth and one sister-in-law Marion Kowalczyk.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls (920-848-2222 or visit: www.jonesfuneral.com) after 2:00pm Thursday, December 4, 2008, there will be a story telling time for family and friends at 7:30 pm Thursday. Visitation will continue after 9:00am Friday, December 5, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am Friday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.

Long Lake resident passes

Roger E. Murphy, 63, Little Suamico, died Thursday evening, December 11, 2008 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, following complications from a brain aneurysm he suffered the day before. He was born August 23, 1945 in Oconto Falls to Howard and Gloria (Lewis) Murphy. Roger grew up in the Oconto Falls area where he attended public schools, graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1963. Following his graduation, he served in the US Army Reserves.

On June 25, 1966 he married Shirley Anderson at St. John Catholic Church in Gillett. Following their marriage the couple lived in Little Suamico where Roger was first employed for 20 years as a foreman at Heyrman Construction. He then went to work for Wisconsin Public Service as a heavy equipment operator until retiring four years ago. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls and the Kelly Lake Sportsman’s Club. Roger enjoyed spending time at Kelly Lake where he looked forward to his “breakfast with the boys” gathering at the Kelly Lakeside Restaurant. Last winter, he and Shirley enjoyed their time together at North Fort Meyers, FL and were looking forward to doing it again this year.

Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Shirley Murphy, Little Suamico; one daughter, Jolene (Jeff), Truckenbrod, Sobieski; two granddaughters whom he dearly loved, Jena and Julie; his parents, Howard and Gloria Murphy, Morgan; one brother, Jim Murphy, Little Suamico; one sister, Jackie Super, Green Bay; his in-laws, Arnie and Olee Anderson, Oconto Falls; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arnold Jr. (Randae) Anderson, Robert (Jenny) Anderson all of Little Suamico; Sandra (Don) Pederson, Appleton; Sharon Maaske, Green Bay; John Anderson, Oconto Falls; Janice (Mark) Trotter, Niagra; Linnea Bonville, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and three nephews.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls (920-848-2222 or visit: www.jonesfuneral.com) from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, December 15, 2008. Visitation will continue at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls after 9:30 am Tuesday, December 16, 2008 until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
