“Guys and Does”

Shirley and I were invited to go along with Kelly Lake’s Gary and Kathy Clevers to the “Guys and Does” play at the American Folklore Theater in Green Bay. We had a grand time and laughed at the satirical performance during the timely deer hunting season. Four wonderfully talented performers, including the keyboardist, entertained us with comedy and music to the age-old hunting spoof all hunters enjoyed and related to; even to the delight of non-hunters. It probably wasn’t as satirical as many would think!

From there, the Clevers took us out to fine dining at the Black Forest Supper and Spirits Club  located on Duck Creek in Howard. A duet performed for the guests enjoyment.  A very enjoyable evening with Kelly Lake friends!  Thanks, Gary and Kathy, for inviting us!  Roger and Shirley

Thin layer of ice!

We woke this morning (12/6/’09) to a thin layer of ice nearly covering Kelly Lake. A small area lay open as a landing and swimming hole for migrating geese. Roger

Packer surprise!

While ventured out on my “Amtrak 30-day Rail Pass”, Shirley held down the fort here at Birr’s Eye View. In my absence, Kelly Lake’s Kathy Clevers got the idea that since Shirley was home alone, she might want to watch the Packer/San Francisco game together, and called to see what Shirley was doing for the game. Shirley, thinking that Kathy wanted her to come over to enjoy the two titan teams on TV, was surprised when Kathy asked her to join Kathy, her brother, Dennis, and his daughter, Erin; front row! Excited and enthusiastic, Shirley’s reply was a resounding, “YES”!

Four seats were filled now, being that Gary was away on a hunting expedition to Florence, Wisconsin. An avid Packer fan, no, nor nothing could tear him away from his love for deer hunting. There’s always the replays of the game on TV news, but no replays for the game buck he might have shot; and Gary didn’t; he missed an eight-pointer; not even a slim chance for a replay! True story!

Be that as it may, here are some photos from the game. Many thanks to the Kelly Lake Clevers for giving Shirley the opportunity to see the game, and to view it live with friends who got Shirley out of the house!  Roger

The three girls coaxed the cameraman over to get him to aim the camera their way so they could see themselves on the big screen (they’re not shown here)!
