Congratualations, Mother!
Congratulations, Mother, for receiving a 98% on your Centenarian Test! HAPPY 98!
My Mother, Eva Birr, celebrated her 98th Birr-thday today, January 6th. Shirley and I went down to Two Rivers this last weekend to join her in yet another milestone… one more year young at heart. Healthy, sharp and still as lovely as ever, Mom gallivanted out along with us for dinner Saturday night at Machute’s Supper Club, and then again for breakfast Sunday at the Lighthouse Inn; both in TR–sporting her walker! With all the ‘gallivanting’, I told her she won’t have to go to the gym all week!
Mother is seen here at the Lighthouse Inn being serenaded on violin by a member of their staff–something he did as a favor; not being officially on the clock!
Mom still lives in the house I grew up in in Two Rivers; a block from the East Twin River, and a few blocks from Lake Michigan. The house must be near 100 years or so old. What memories of a life as a child growing up when Shirley and I visit; I’ve shared many stories/tales with Shirley.
Shirley picked out a warm cozy red robe with matching red slippers (Mother needed new ones!) and I picked out a dozen roses. I couldn’t possibly think of what to get her that she needed, but instead, I thought of something she probably hasn’t gotten for a long time–roses! Dad has been gone for about 23+ years. He would be 106 the 24th of this month.
I hope to be as sharp as Mom… even in a year from now!
Happy birthday, Mother! Roger and Shirley.
