Steve the Webmeister has fooled us!

Dick, What you wrote just couldn’t be true! I don’t even have an image on a direct connect from the cam here on my pc! I was surprised to see an image there when I clicked on web cam 1.

Steve ran his home cam through our link! He’s such a kidder! I guess Steve–my mentor–is about as impatient with me getting the cam up-and-running–his protege–as anyone! Rog {:>(

Roger-

Wish a happy birthday to your Mom. We are both lucky to still have a  living parent. We were up for the holiday weekend just past. I’ll post some photo’s tomorrow when I have the chips from the cameras.  the link to the webcam is functioning from the site.

Christmas and winter shots.

I’ve been a bit more absent from the site, preoccupied with many things through the last month or so. Here are a few photos Shirley took during my sabbatical!  Roger

Hope your holidays were as wonderful and joyous as ours!

Kelly Lake web cam 1 and 2 update.

I have to tell you I’ve spent hours trying to troubleshoot the problem with cam1, putting off getting cam2 up-and-running. After replacing my wireless router and trying the new cam intended for installation across the lake at Dave Fickenscher’s home, facing west, I still came up with a blank. I suspect a lightning strike–not necessarily a direct hit–caused a spike/surge that took out cam1 and the router. It may have also caused a glitch or change in the configuration to connect to the provider. Cam1 is old and has lived well beyond its expected longevity.

I’ve been in contact with Steve, the “Kelly Lake Webmeister”, to track down the problem. Steve has offered some tips to identify why the cam still doesn’t work; I’ll employ his ideas today. Right now everything is apart and in my house.

This has been an enigma for us. I suspect there is an error in the configuration, though through my efforts to check entries over and over, all seem accurate. One test is to see if the cam’s provider is still in business or using a different IP.

Steve gave me some figures to type in the browser to circumvent the provider and see if the cam pic shows up on my pc. However, I’ve got to reinstall it again (using the new cam) before I can run the test.

I appreciate your patience, as mine is a bit frazzled! I especially appreciate the cam2 contributors who have financed it over a year ago; they still haven’t seen (literally and figuratively) any results for their donations!

Looking forward to seeing the east-look at Kelly Lake from Birr’s Eye View, and a west-look from Dave’s! See you then! Roger
