Oconto Falls “Friends of the Arts” season starts:

Press release: HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR COMING TO OCONTO FALLS!

The Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts are proud to present the HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the Falls Area Performing Arts Center, located at Oconto Falls High School. The world famous Harlem Gospel Choir is the most famous gospel choir in America today. It travels the globe, sharing its joy of faith through its music & raising funds for children’s charities. The Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for the Choir while attending a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. The Choir presents the finest singers & musicians from Harlem’s Black Churches & the New York/Tri-State area.

The Harlem Gospel Choir has shared its message of love & inspiration with hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Through its dynamic performances the Choir strive to create a better understanding of the African-American culture & the inspirational music called Gospel as it relates to the Black Church. The theme of every performance is “bringing people & nations together & giving something back”.

In this new era of hope and change the Choir’s voices reflect the RENAISSANCE of Harlem’s culture. The Harlem Gospel Choir’s rich harmonies and sound are always “UNFETTERED, JOYOUS & INSPIRATIONAL”. Their songs of hope & inspiration will touch the depths of your soul & lift your spirit to angelic heights – every performance will take your breath away! More than just a style of gospel, the Harlem Gospel Choir is the original “real deal” straight from New York. Unlike its pale imitations, the Choir’s music embodies the true spirit of gospel.

Over the years, the choir has performed with such famous artists as Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Simple Minds, Live, Robin Gibb, Kim Wilde, Lyle Lovett, Diana Ross, Harry Belafonte, Brooks and Dunn, Ashford & Simpson, Jimmy Cliff, and the Chieftains. The choir has been featured on TV many times including Top Chef, The Colbert Report, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Good Day New York, and the Early Show. In 2008 the Choir performed for 60,000 people at Yankee Stadium for Pope Benedict XVI.

This year the choir’s tour is called “Concert Of Hope / Remembering Michael Jackson and their song list will include some interpretations of the inspirational songs sung by Michael and the Jackson Five. Kelly Lake’s Rita Day celebrate’s 40th!

Iree, iree, come to Jamaica, mun! Rita Day, along with boyfriend Ron Asp and his mother, Marge, hosted Rita’s 40th birthday party Caribbean style Saturday night. Food from the islands favored the tables with flavor from the tropics. We all had a grand time listening to the gayla Jamaican music and sampling the cosine. Roger

Me and Steve

I was just about at the end of my rope (or should I say “line”; there are no ropes on a boat other than a boltrope) trying for the last two weeks or so to figure out this mischievous and mutinous confounded frickin’ fandangle contraption and its peripheral problems; myself readying to scuttle this already sinking scow in the nearest open ice hole, or walk the plank myself–three sheets to the wind, of course–to end my bloody misery!

Arrrghh b’ dar, but then along comes  the Kelly Lake Webmeister with his savvy of the confounder–I mean computer-and an arsenal of weapons aimed at corruption by the corrupted themselves, with their mindless ‘mindset’; whereas this humble Capt’n merely armed with sword and musket (musket ball in my shirt pocket!).  Aye, and how noble tis he who renders his service so freely since the site’s launching, later so see a web cam mounted such as a telescope to look at the open waters of Kelly Lake from all four corners of thee earth and Seven Seas for our  curiosity and enjoyment.  Aye, me lads and lassies, the scurvy  scoundrel of corruption be thwarted!

From where-st this screwdriver wielding wizard cometh?  Aye, his forte are businesses and industry infrastructure; configuring, formatting and troubleshooting from coast to coast.  He offers his magic free to the Kelly Lake Community web site. On behalf of the community, I salute you for your “one-two-three-there-it’s-fixed, Rog!”  You saved this pc from a cold watery Davy Jone’s Locker!
