Do to the requests, challenge and fun, the Kelly Lake Advancement Association is holding another human-powered cardboard boat race! Below is posted the “Challenge”, “Rules” and registration form.
Last year’s entries put a lot of thought, engineering and design into their crafts; some not as seaworthy as hoped for! If you’re not going to enter, come by just for the entertainment as these mariners set course to fame and fortune–well, fame; well, here at the lake, anyway! Roger

With this last pouring out of sunshine, warm temps and nights, the water is pleasant; even comfortable! Mind you, my thermometer is about 1 1/2 feet below the water, and the recorded temp was on a calm quiet day (warm water at the surface).
You’re probably anxious to dive in, go swimming and skiing; get the wave runner out! Can’t wait, I bet! Just for your info, there’s been some major boating changes to be aware of! Primarily the changes regarding distances from SHORE, docks and other boats. Here’s a clipping from the paper to help you understand the major change… the distance from shore and”no-wake” including docks and boats (other wave runners!).
Have a fantastic Memorial weekend! The water’s warm and the temps will be summer-like with copious amounts of sunshine! Be safe! Roger

Shirley interrupted father and son enjoying a quiet Thursday evening fishing in front of Birr’s Eye View; perhaps pursuing some large bass Shirley shot earlier. They paused to pose for a photo to use on the site, as two other anglers glided by just in time. Let the rest of the world go by! Roger

Water’s not only warmer (62*), but almost crystal clear this time of year! What a sight cruising around the lake on top of such clear water. The bottoms seems closer than it actually is, thus appears much shallower for navigation! Rocks, fish, fish eggs and fish cribs stand out beautifully.
Today, Friday, looks like clouds and sprinkles with intermittent sunrays. Temp should be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Saturday sees the return of sun and temps in the mid to upper 70s. Sunday, clear and warmer–low 80s. The rest of the week?! Party cloudy and in the low 90s; that’s no typo! Roger
