Jenny (Stewart) Curtis, Shirley’s sister and “Squeaky’s” wife, enjoyed her 60th birthday here with her sisters, Kay, Cheryl and Shirley–along with me–Monday, May 17th. The surprise(?!) included cake, hors de ouvres and fine wine for the time! Cards and gifts were opened while we eased her into 60-hood! After Kay took her golfing, Jenny did suspect something was up. Happy Birthday, Jenny! Roger

Lake temp down from last week’s high of 62* to 53*! Cold temps and rain evidently the culprit all week. Furnace has been kicking in with temps as low as the mid-30s at night; upper 40s and low 50s for highs.
Cloudy and WINDY again today–high about 60–with clearing tonight and tomorrow with high about 70. Increasing clouds for Sunday–high about 70–with rain moving in for Monday; we only had a few hundredths of an inch of rain from all the cloudy, cool and mainly light rain pushed by strong 20+ mph winds.
Saturday looks good, especially with lighter winds. Sunday? So, so. Roger

Not much of anything to report! I don’t have any new pics; been too crumby outside to even get in a walk-about. This whole week has been one of a LOT of wind, rain (but merely enough; seems it all stayed south), reading and movies!
Ah, yes! The weather kept me inboard! I finished my cousins book,”Win Some–Lose Some”, by Kelly Lake’s Jane D. Delvaux (see link on your right “wannabwriters”)! And, I gotta tell ya, I enjoyed every adventure Jane’s Uncle Joe (a man I met on occasion) had in her biographical journal of him; prospecting/assaying the West and finding the “Mother Lode”! Find the adventure at www.wannabwriters.com , “Win Some-Lose Some”..
I have observed that, prior to the weekend, the site gets more hits! I suspect your getting a glance of what’s to come. About all I can add is the weather looks decent through Monday. Rog

Dear Roger,
I saw your note asking if anyone had a cottage on the lake for rent. We just bought Don and Nancy Jackson’s beautiful house at 9377 County G and are planning to rent it. Right now we are renovating it, with the help of Jeff and Ron, and plan to rent it as soon as we are ready. We have four bedrooms and a panoramic view of the lake. If I can provide more information, my email is: jomao@sbcglobal.net. I am part of the Ryan family and we have been at Kelly Lake for over 50 years!
Thanks,
Mary Anne and Jim O’Regan
This posting also listed under new page “Cottages for Rent”. Roger

The thermometer is located at the end of our dock, about 2 1/2′ deep. It’s a bit of a hassle donning my wetsuit, snorkel, mask and flippers to check it daily, but for you Kelly Lakers, I’ll sacrifice! It’ll be nice when the water warms so I won’t need the wetsuit! Roger
