The 2017 Kelly Lake Kracken Shack Bed Races were held Saturday, January 28th with ten teams eager to face-off on a slippery raceway encumbered with bumps and potholes making navigation somewhat precarious for spectators, themselves.
But notwithstanding (without some difficulty!), the ice-hardened determination to compete didn’t hamper their spirits (though the beer may have had a lot to do with it) to suck it up and go for it!
Shirley was late to the start, but was able to capture a few of the thrills and chills. As for me, I stayed home nursing a cold that started out bad, but gradually got worse as the day lingered on… I wasn’t “bedridden”, however!
Thanks to Kracken Shack’s Bob Davis and crew for continuing to sponsor the bed races for the 7th year; we need events like this to help make winter go faster!
As far as race results, Shirley was only able to find out the Mexico sponsored team won! Please tag and offer info on the other teams including costume winners! Roger Birr
