Reluctant as he was to allow Shirley to take a photo of his 8-pointer, our neighbor, Randy Reed, finally agreed. You see, Randy’s cousin, Kyle Benz, shot the 10-pointer I posted yesterday—no rivalry there!
Be that as it may, they can’t complain… Randy’s happy, too! How often I remember going home without even seeing a buck, not even a doe! Nice deer, guys!
By the way, Randy and Amanda just bought the property next door and built a cottage. They love it here at Kelly Lake! Great neighbors! Roger
Kyle Benz and his 10-pointer!
With well-below freezing the last few nights, and daytime temp only 32 yesterday, the ice was given a chance to form and cover Kelly Lake.
Stepping outside, this cold early morning sunrise, was again evidence that the winter is setting in; winter’s grip caught me with a chill; memories came back of the years hunting; I hear neighbors up-and-about on their way to their stands as I stepped back inside out of the cold—not missing having to gear-up and head to my stand—but missing the enthusiasm and excitement of at least seeing a big buck… missing the camaraderie with other like-minded hunters; and warm thoughts of Thanksgiving and the holidays coming up… All came back to me as I stepped outside this cold early morning sunrise.
