…POW, it’s back to reality!… after all, it’s still officially winter for the next couple of weeks, with no guarantee we’re out of the woods, even then! That’s March!
Strong winds, blowing snow into drifts… What was expected to remain south of us, hit us head-on and is stalled over the top of Kelly Lake, dumping more snow as I speak!
I haven’t ventured out, as-of-yet, but I’d say we got 6″—maybe more—that we’ll have to deal with. I’m waiting for the plow to go through before snowblowing.
I’ve always said, since my first experience with March weather as a toddler, March is our “fifth season”.
March comes with the promise of spring (sun getting higher, average temps rising, longer days, melting snow…), summer-like days, rain, sleet, and a mixture thereof, robins returning, solar equinox, early little colorful flowers sprouting up as the tundra-frost relinquishes its grip on them, and of course, the thrust back into reality with, yet, another blizzard! My suggestion?… don’t put your snow shovels away till June, here in Wisconsin!
I remember an old saying: “You have to be born here in Wisconsin to stay here. No one would move into a climate like this!” Just kidding! We love Wisconsin. Roger
