One of the strangest things I ever saw years ago; ducks sitting in a tree. The trees and birds were silhouetted against the early morning sky. The ‘birds’, back then, were perched on much smaller branches, and when they turned their heads sideways with my arrival, I saw bills, not beaks! The birds were ducks!
Early the other morning, Shirley spotted the wood ducks, once again, perched in the trees, while others swam around.
Note how wood duck is perched with its webbed-foot on the rope.
Later I learned they were “wood ducks”; ducks that built their nests above the ground. I also learned people build bird houses for wood ducks!
